“Our Mission is to Biblically Know, Spiritually Grow, and Servantly Show the love of Jesus Christ to all people.”
Here at Center Grove Baptist Church we are a family - a family of believers in Jesus Christ. Everything that we seek to do flows out of our desire to biblically know the truths of God, to spiritually grow closer to him through an intimate relationship, and to servantly show the world that He is alive and desires to love all people through us.
So, whether you’re a young family looking for a place to learn about God’s truths, a college student looking for a place to grow closer to the one who loves you most, or an older person looking for a place to share your gifts to reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ, there is a place for you at Center Grove Baptist Church. We hope that you’ll join us as we seek to fulfill all that God has called His family to do.
I’m New
What is a typical worship service like?
Sunday worship services begin at 11:00am. CGBC is a friendly congregation that enjoy’s greeting one another before the service begins with one of our ministers calling us into a sacred time of worship. Our services consist of both contemporary worship music and traditional hymns accompanied by piano and choir, the participation in Scripture readings, and the proclamation of God’s message from one of our pastors.
Where are the entrances?
The main entrance to the sanctuary faces Center Grove road and ushers will be available to assist you in finding a seat. There are doors available both in the front and side of the educational building that provide cover from the weather, along with wheelchair accessibility. If you are attending a Sunday School class, there will be a staff member available to show you to the appropriate class and provide you with the information necessary.
What do you have for my children?
Children of all ages are welcome in the sanctuary during the worship services, along with participatory “worship packets” upon request. If you prefer, we offer childcare for babies and toddlers. Ushers will be available to direct you to the nursery. During the worship service, normally after the “children’s message,” toddlers through kindergarten are invited to our “children’s church.”
Statement of Faith
About God:
We are a Christ-Centered church that is dedicated to loving God with all our hearts, mind and soul. We also believe in loving our neighbor as ourselves. We are all children of God and he wants us to love unconditionally.
We believe there is one God, who has revealed himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ in God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Ephesians 4:4-6, Colossians 2:9, 1 Timothy 3:16)
About the Bible
The Bible is the infallible Word of God. It has all authority for salvation and Christian beliefs and standards to live by. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
About Sin & Salvation
We believe God created Adam and Eve in His image. Unfortunately they sinned when tempted by Satan. Everyone has sinned and is in need of salvation. Salvation comes through faith and by grace based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We can only be reconciled, renewed and promised eternity with our Savior through God’s saving grace. (Romans 3:23-25; 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9)
About the Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was crucified, buried and rose again. We obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:8, 1 Peter 4:17) by repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Acts 2:4'; 37-39, Romans 6:3-4)
About Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a Christ-centered life inwardly and outwardly. We should also worship God joyfully. The gifts of the Spirit are for today’s church. (Mark 12:28-31, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
About the Future
We believe Jesus Christ is coming again for his church. The righteous will inherit eternal life and the unrighteous will inherit eternal death. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelations 20:11-15
